First EAF heat at RINA-CSM

On December 30, 2025, we successfully completed the first Electric Arc Furnace steel heat within the Hydra project.

Through Hydra, we are testing hydrogen as both an energy carrier and a reducing agent, addressing the technical and economic challenges that still limit its adoption in hard-to-abate industries.   

This first EAF heat marks the beginning of additional heats that we will carry out using prereduced materials obtained through hydrogen-based and natural-gas-based reduction.
