An update of RINA HYDRA project has been discussed during the ESTEP Spring Dissemination Event.

The installation of HYDRA pilot EAF furnace (first heat in December 2025) has been completed. The installation of the DRP is at final steps and commissioning will start in summer 2026. In the meanwhile RINA performed an intense experimental activity to obtain an improved knowledge on the kinetic of reduction process and main governing factors and also on the impact of hydrogen combustion atmospheres on the steel surface quality.
