FIL ROUGE 2026
Event at the Associazione Italiana di Ingegneria Chimica (AIDIC)

On 16 July 2026, the FIL ROUGE 2026 webinar brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss the role of hydrogen in the decarbonisation of hard-to-abate industries, with a particular focus on the steel sector. During the event, Filippo Cirilli (RINA CSM) presented the HYDRA Project, an ambitious initiative developing innovative hydrogen-based technologies to support the transition towards low-carbon steel production.

The webinar highlighted the challenges and opportunities associated with industrial decarbonisation, the growing importance of the DRI-EAF route for future steelmaking, and the strategic contribution of hydrogen to achieving European climate goals. Participants also gained insights into HYDRA’s pilot-scale facilities, research activities, and the four main work packages addressing hydrogen technologies across the steel value chain.

The event provided a valuable opportunity to share knowledge, foster discussion, and showcase innovative solutions that can accelerate the transformation of the steel industry towards a more sustainable and competitive future.
